3 Easy Valentine’s Day Crafts

Valentine’s Day is just a few days away. If you’re looking for some crafty ideas to get you through the weekend, then look no further. Here are three easy Valentine’s Day crafts you can make with items you most likely already have in your home.

  1. Mosaic Sun Catchers

I absolutely adore this project from the Kids Craft Room. This craft is not only beautiful to display in your window, but easy enough for all ages to enjoy creating. Mosaic sun catchers are a great way for kids to explore patterns, colors and design.

Materials Needed:

  • Clear Contact Paper

  • Paper Mosaic Tiles or Tissue Paper cut into squares

  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut two pieces of contact paper slightly bigger than you want your heart shape to be. Leave the paper in its square or rectangle for now.

  2. Peel the backing off one sheet of contact paper and lay it sticky side up.

  3. Arrange your paper mosaic tiles onto the sticky paper. You can be as random or as ordered as you like.

  4. Peel off the second piece of contact paper and lay it on top of your mosaic pieces.

  5. Cut out the shape your heart shape.

  6. Use sticky tape or blue tack to attach your sun catchers to the window.

2. Cardboard Roll Heart Stamp

This fun craft from Housing a Forest is sure to get all the heart eyes. While you can use your heart stamp on pretty much any paper, it looks especially fabulous when using previously painted paper.

Materials:

  • Red Tempera Paint

  • Paper plate

  • Previously painted heavy weight paper

  • Cardboard Tube

Instructions:

Shape the recycled cardboard tube into a simple Heart stamp. This can be done by simply creasing the cardboard roll in 2 places and manipulating it into the shape of a heart. Dip one end in the paint and stamp away!

3. Coffee Filter Valentine’s Day Garland

With only 3 items, you can make these beautiful and festive hearts from Made to Be A Momma. This project is super simple, but truly fun for all ages to make!

Materials Needed:

  • Coffee filter

  • Washable markers

  • Spray water bottle

  • Hole Punch

  • Scissors

  • Yarn, string, or ribbon

Instructions:

  1. Use washable markers to color the coffee filters. You can do them in shades of pink and red, soft pastels, or any color combination you like. You can also make them match specific traditional holiday colors.

  2. Once they are colored, spray them with the water bottle until the colors start to blend.

  3. Carefully and gently pick up the saturated coffee filters and place them on paper towels.

  4. Let them dry completely. If you want them to dry faster, you may use a hairdryer which drastically speeds up the drying process. You will just need to carefully hold down the coffee filter with a finger or two until it’s dry.

  5. Fold the dry coffee filter in half and cut out a half of a heart shape so that when the filter is opened back up it will make a full heart.

  6. Use a hole punch to punch two holes in the tops of the humps on the heart.

  7. String a large piece of string or yarn through all the hearts.

  8. Use as a pretty garland.

Well there you have it! 3 super simple crafts that are sure to bring some extra love into your home. Happy Valentine’s Day!!
